  • Unrest in Cameroon

    Violence has broken out across urban areas of the Central African country of Cameroon after a constitutional court decision giving president Paul Biya another 7 years term.The country’s opposition parties claim the election was rigged citing high numbers of people who voted in a region where armed separatist conflict is currently ongoing. 

    This election will see Paul Biya, who first won the presidency in 1982, saying in office till 2032. Biya will be nearing 100 at that time. He is the oldest world leader currently serving anywhere. This is his 8th consecutive term as President of the country of 30 million people. 

    The results of the election and the vote of the constitutional court has sparked a number of large uprisings and protests which the government has responded to with force. Opposition supporters have defied a countrywide ban on protesting and have taken to the streets, lighting police cars on fire, burning car tires in the street and barricading roads. Before the results from the constitutional court were annonced  a number of supporters had come out for opposition leader,Issa Tchiroma Bakary the leader of the Front for the National Salvation of Cameroon party, those supporters were dispersed with police water cannons and tear gas. 

    Tchiroma claims he won the election with 55% of the vote which is not the official number which sits at 35.19%. Biya on the other hand ,officially, according to the constitutional court has 35.19%. 

    Tchiroma  is the candidate put forward by the political coalition “union for change” a group that brought together dozens of political parties and civil groups in an effort to oust Biya from power. Tchiroma has been a politician in the country for a long time and served as the government spokesperson during the years of fighting with Boko Haram. Considered by some to be a member of the “old guard”, he has promised change to come to Cameroon. 

    One candidate, Tomaïno Ndam Njoya who came out fifth in the election, said that the outcome of the election didn’t fairly represent the “sovereign will” of the country or its people. 

    “They reflect a weakened electoral system, undermined by irregularities, manipulation and repeated violations of the law,”Tomaïno Ndam Njoya

    The governor of the Wouri River Estuary, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, told the AFP news agency that protesters had attacked and burned police stations in several districts across the city of Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon. 

    As of yesterday four people had already been killed with dozens wounded. Videos being released online show riot police opening up with what seems to be live ammunition.

    The United Nations Secretary-General echoed concerns shared by the European Union regarding violence against the population. Both urge restraint and to not let hate speech and violence take over. Some human rights groups, like Amnesty International have launched investigations into the civilian deaths and “excessive use of force” against protesters. 

  • U.S. Conservative commentator, Charlie Kirk fatally shot while speaking at a collage in Utah.

    Rightwing activist, commentator, and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk,31, is dead after a yet unknown gunmen shot him in the neck while he was speaking at a campus event sponsored by the Utah chapter of Turning Point USA at the Utah Valley University in central Utah.

    Law enforcement initially had a suspect, an older, white, male the looked 50’s. That man was let go and police announced that the suspect was still at large and a danger to public safety.

    University spokeswoman, Ellen Treanor said that Kirk was shot about 20 minutes after he started speaking. The gruesome video shows that he had just started speaking answering a question about shootings when the shot rang out and the bullet struck him.

    Mrs.Treanor also said that the gunmen had fired at Kirk from the Losee Center, a building more than 100 yards away from the area Kirk was speaking at. Attendees of the event also spotted a man on the rooftops of a building and filmed it. You can’t say for sure but it appears the person is laying down.

    After being rushed to the hospital Kirk was listed as being in critical condition but was later declared to be deceased.

    As I finished writing this the FBI said they had another suspect in custody. No other info at this time.

  • Political violence in America as Minnesota speaker and her husband are slain in there home.

    Flyers found in suspects fake police SUV

    Minnesota Representative and Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband were both killed in their homes early this morning in what seems to be a targeted political killing. Also shot in their home was Senator John Hoffman (D) and his wife, although fkr now they both remain in critical condition and are recovering from a life saving surgery.

    Police are searching for a suspect they have identified as Vance Luther Boelter, 57. Boelter was appointed by Gov. Walz to the bipartisan workforce development board in 2019. His term expired in 2023. Police say the gunman who they believe to be Boelter was dressed as a police officer when he assassinated and attacked his victims.

    Here is a rough timeline of the events.

    At around 2am on June 14, rhe police were dispatched to Minnesota Sen. Hoffman and his wife’s house where both had been shot.

    At around 3:45am police proactively” went to the home of Rep. Hortman, authorities say. It was there that they encountered the suspect, who was dressed up as an officer with a fake police vehicle. The suspect and officers exchanged gunfire but the suspect fled.

    “When our officers confronted him, the individual immediately fired upon the officers who exchanged gun fire,”Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley said during a press conference on Saturday he also noted that the suspects car looked exactly like one of their squads SUV’s.

    The shooter escaped by running out the back of the house.

    At 5:30am a shelter in place order was given for a 3-mile radius around the Edinburgh Golf Course.

    At 9:45 it was announced by Governor Tim Waltz that that Hortman and her husband had died after being shot. He also said they’re “cautiously optimistic” about Hoffman and his wife’s recovery.

    Later around 11 the governor urged people not to attend planned “No king” rally’s as they believed the suspect would attempt to target protesters at these events. A manifesto was found which named other democrat lawmakers and Governor Waltz as well as well as abortion rights activist and abortion clinics, according to CBS news.

    Currently local and state police as well as the FBI are investigating and carrying out a state wide manhunt for Bolster.

    Vance Luther Boelter,

    The suspect here. Vance Boelter. I’ve yet to be able to find anything about him but I’ve got people digging. I’ve seen people already trying to paint him as a Democrat which I honestly very much doubt, given his anti- abortion views and who he targeted.

    So beware of people trying to pin this guy down without solid proof. The facts to me seem as of right now have me thinking he was Republican.

    That being said I’m more interested in seeing him caught and brought to Justice.

  • Columbia presidential candidate shot in Bogotá.

    Miguel Uribe, a presidential candidate for Columbia has been shot at an event in Bogotá according to a video as well as a statement put out by the Colombian National Police.

    Uribe, a member of the Colombian senate , was attacked while giving a speech in the Fontibon district in the city ofBogotá, when he was fired on by an unknown assailant. His personal bodyguards got into a shootout with the would-be assassin that can be heard in the video. Uribe was transported to the Engativá Medical Center in west Bogotá

    The mayor of the city told reporters that the suspect had been arrested by police shortly after the attack. The shooter is a 15 year old boy.
