Today in what India calls a retaliation for the brutal Kashmir attack carried out in Pahalgam that killed 25 people on April 22. There is no love lost between the two countries but this attack stuck at the hearts of the people of India and the government who called for revenge. India launched missile attacks on 9 targets located in Pakistan and on Pakistans side of the disputed Kashmir region. Pakistan reports 5 targets had been struck in Punjab province.
“Our actions have been focused, measured and nonescalatory in nature,” said the Indian government after the strikes. “No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.”
While India claims that all the targets were terrorist locations Pakistan is threatening that the strikes “will not go unanswered”.
“The temporary pleasure of India will be replaced by enduring grief.” -A statement from the Pakistani goverment.
Pakistan’s government has also announced that a “measured but forceful” response was already underway without sharing any details.
Videos from some of the strikes have circulated on social media which I will share below.
That’s all I have for now. I would urge caution. Both sides have been throwing misinformation into the works to confuse the situation. There is a rumor of an Indian F-16 being shot down that is so far unconfirmed. Be carful of pages posting unverified claims, they only care about the engagement they get, not actual facts. I’ll have more later on when things become more clear and I can work through some of the images and videos.
